P31S modular global mini soft start valves provide for the safe introduction of pressure to machines or systems. They allow the pressure to gradually build to a set point before fully opening to deliver full air line pressure. The controlled introduction of pressure can be an important safety factor and prevent damage to tooling when the air pressure is introduced at machine or system start up. When pressure is supplied to the inlet port, gradual filling of the downstream system occurs through the adjustment needle valve. The piston opens the main valve when the downstream side of the valve reaches approximately 60% of the supply pressure. The ramp up time to reach the switch-over pressure is adjustable via the needle valve in the cover. Note: soft start valves are not intended to be used as emergency shut-off valves, but should be placed after a manual shut off valve.
